Taking Care of Ginkgo

Food:

1/2 cup of kibble in the morning and at 5pm. Give her treats as much as you like. A greenie at noon is appreciated!

Potty Schedule:

After meals, at lunch, and once before bed. Usually breakfast comes first thing, then a short walk.

Walking:

Her collar always stays on and she walks on a leash always. She can be off-leash in a fenced park. She will generally not leave you if off-leash but she should still always be on-leash!

Bedding and Bedtime:

Ginkgo loves to rest on a blanket or her bed during the day. At night, she may try to snuggle with you - just be firm in asking her to go to bed and point to her spot. She sleeps through the night and doesn't need a walk until you're ready for her.

Toys, treats, etc:

Give her treats for tricks, she loves it! Toys are always good for play time and if she's being too loud, just tell her gently to stop, drop, and go away. She might sulk - she's a kind soul!

Cleaning:

Ginkgo probably won't need a bath but if she does, a few treats go a long way and she won't fight you otherwise. However, you might find her scooting a little and this is where she can use your help since she can't clean herself on her own. Use a baby wipe to gently wipe her privates from front to back.

Crating:

Ginkgo does not need to be crated when you are away but she tolerates it well. Simply point to her crate and tell her to 'go crate'. Give her a treat for being good and she's set for a few hours!

Minor Problems:

She doesn't often get sick but if she does once, it's no reason to worry as long as she is acting normal otherwise. She never has accidents in the house when it comes to #1 and #2. If she's not behaving well, tell her 'no' and if you really need to, use the word 'bad'. No physical punishment!
